SecurityRecruiter.com has been engaged by an early-stage yet profitable information security consulting firm to locate a hands-on Principal Security Engineer / Practice Leader. This person will initially be 60-70% billable but will grow into a role where billable hours decrease as the size of the security consulting team grows. This person will assist in growing the company’s security consulting services by managing customer relationships, providing security thought leadership and vision and by managing the work of billable security consultants. The President and founder of this company has successfully built multiple technology-related companies in the past. He is a serial entrepreneur who has talent for building and running successful businesses. This is an opportunity for a seasoned Security Engineer / Architect who has a passion for growing people and growing businesses, to earn an equity stake in the company as they perform and add to the bottom line. The Principal Security Engineer / Practice Leader will be the company’s most senior security engineer and will also be the person responsible for growing and managing the professional services team. Over time, as the security consulting team grows, the Principal Security Engineer / Practice Leader will become more of a practice leader and less of a billable engineer. Our client provides security assessment services, penetration testing / ethical hacking services and web application security assessments. The Principal Security Consultant will at times assist the President of the company to choose appropriate security product companies to add as strategic partners and will also be instrumental in introducing new service offerings to the services portfolio. While the President and several sales people are selling new business, the Principal Security Engineer / Practice Leader is expected to participate in business development activities as a normal part of their daily activities. Candidates located near North Carolina will be most interesting. However, this role requires in the neighborhood of 50%. When not traveling, pre and post security assessment work may be done from a home office. Candidates living in the Eastern and Central time zones will be considered.
A BA/BS is preferred along with 3 or more years of information security assessment work across various industries. Candidates must demonstrate deep understanding of network and web-base security threats and must possess an ability to relate these threats to various client business environments. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency with the following tools: NMAP, Nessus, w3af, nikto/wikto, DirBuster, Linux, Windows, Active Directory, Novell, Exchange, Web Servers (Apache, Tomcat, IIS), etc. Candidates must demonstrate strong knowledge of various vendor technologies such as CISCO, Checkpoint, SonicWALL, SurfControl, Websense, Juniper and more. Candidates will demonstrate the ability to be a sleeves rolled up billable engineer while also demonstrating the ability to take on leadership roles and the ability to see the big picture necessary to grow a business. Certifications such as the CISSP and CEH are preferred. Candidates who participate in their local OWASP chapter are of great interest.
