Job Description

We have been retained by an exceptionally strong Information Security Software / Solutions company specialized in the DDoS space to locate an individual who will perform a multitude of network security, DDoS R&D and Marketing functions. This role does not require relocation but will require travel to the corporate office 1-2 weeks per month. Our client was founded in 2003 and now employs approximately 25 people. Our client is on target to double 2005 revenues in 2006 and is profitable. You'll be helping to build and promote solutions that solve problems for a variety of industries including on-line gaming, on-line retail, ISPs, financial services, logistics, pharmaceutical and more. As the company grows, it is beginning to sell to very large enterprises that desire their services as an "On-Demand" insurance policy against DDoS Attacks. The title of this role is still being determined and will depend on the individual who best fits the job. Here is a picture of the work you'll do in this company. As the person in charge of the R&D team, you will: Identify new attack vectors; Duplicate attacks in the lab; Determine the effectiveness of current defenses; Identify mitigation options; Work with development to produce hardware and software; Work with operations to adjust processes and methodologies. You'll identify vulnerabilities, worms, viruses, scams, etc. and augment current defenses accordingly. You'll test new and competitive products identifying features that need to be added to this company's current systems. You'll contribute to industry groups / channels and will participate in underground security communities to gain advanced knowledge of pending attacks and zero-day vectors. During an attack, you will gather lists of attacking IP Addresses, determine the details of attack vectors, work industry channels to get bots shut down and will work with authorities to shut down and track the source of attacks. Following an attack, you'll work with industry to develop attack forensics, produce post-mortem reports, work with operations to adjust processes and methodologies and will analyze attack trends to identify patterns and/or attacker signatures. Market research will comprise 15-25% of your time. You'll devise, produce and publish new Zombie reports, industry assessments and DDoS market research. You'll create interesting and innovative market reports by analyzing raw attack data. You'll work with PR to publish results of findings. You'll identify industry trends and hot topics and will participate in developing technologies required to provide new products.

Job Requirements

This role requires at least a BA/BS while a technical Master degree or PhD is preferred. You will demonstrate exceptionally strong Internet Security and Network Security skills with a deep understanding at the protocol level. You might currently be a security consultant specializing in Internet Security, Network Security and/or DDoS matters or you might currently be working for a security vendor that is specialized in Internet Security, Network Security and/or DDoS. You'll be a prolific writer who is interested in running his/her own blog on DDoS. Your past writing accomplishments may include authoring security related books, writing white papers, writing blogs, writing press releases, writing articles, etc. You will have public speaking experience at industry trade show events. You'll have a "guerilla marketing" thought process. You'll have significant experience working in a research capacity for commercial purposes. You'll demonstrate knowledge and experience with behavioral threat analysis and security testing methodologies. You will have managed a small team of security professionals in the past and will demonstrate a record of meeting deadlines and expectations. Your work history will include experience with various stages of growth in a start-up technology company environment. As an Internet / Network Security professional, you will possess a variety of certifications such as the CISSP, CCNA, CCIE, other Vendor Specific network certifications and/or various SANS GIAC certifications.
